External Advisory Board

Laura Almasy, Ph.D.

Associate Scientist, Department of Genetics, Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research
Dr. Almasy's research focuses on localizing and characterizing the genetic influences on common complex diseases; her methodological work includes both linkage and association approaches and has ranged into bivariate genetic analyses and genotype-by-environment interaction models. Her experience in applying statistical models to genetics within a wide variety of disease models will be a valuable addition to the EAB..

Gregory G. Brown, Ph.D.

Chief of the Psychology Service at the VA San Diego Healthcare System, Associate Director of Clinical Neurosciences at UCSD Center for fMRI, Co-Director of VA/UCSD Laboratory of Cognitive Imaging
Dr. Brown has an extensive background in the demands of imaging subjects with mental illness and applying novel analytical measures. He will complement the expertise of the EAB.

Michael I. Posner, Ph.D.

Professor at Emeritus, University of Oregon
Dr. Posner has agreed to be a member of the EAB. He brings a well-known history of pioneering the cognitive sciences, and more recently in imaging and genetics to the EAB.

Bruce J. Tromberg, Ph.D.

Director, Beckman Laser Institute
Dr. Tromberg's experience establishing developing centers and mature centers at UC Irvine will be invaluable in facilitating this Center's goals and overcoming the inevitable obastacles.

Daniel R. Weinberger, M.D.

Director, Clinical Brain Disorders Branch, National Institute of Mental Health
Dr. Weinberger is an international leader in combining imaging and genetic data who also co-organizes the International Imaging Genomics Conference.
